Farm animals have something about them…something wholesome, adorable, and loving.

Farms are a little plot of magic in a lot of ways. The feeling in the air of freshness, of hard work, and of wholesome animals with smiling faces. Pigs are one of those animals that we don't always think about as being cute but they're actually so important. They have many stereotypes but no one assumes they're intelligent. It's a little known fact that pigs can solve puzzles, learn tricks, and understand simple symbolic language. They're often compared to dogs in terms of cognitive ability, and some researchers suggest they're as intelligent as children in certain ways. Isn't it crazy? Pigs also have excellent memories, and they can remember locations, solve problems they've seen before, and have facial recognition for both people and other pigs.

Their intelligent is underestimated, and usually they're just known for their funny oinks and big bodies. Pigs do love to eat, but that's what makes them endearing. They're incredibly social animals, and in the wild they form extremely tight-knit communities and can express themselves in different ways. Their sounds go beyond that of the typical oink we hear, making them unique creatures. They also have better hygiene that most animals! They actually never like to eat, sleep, and bathe in the same area! What other animal can do that? So this weekend while you're wondering something existential about your life, think about pigs, farm life, and the happiness that exudes there.

There's something absolutely adorable about pigs. When I was younger I was obsessed with pigs, and especially baby pigs. They're just small and pink and basically they're perfect. The thing about pigs is that they look and sound so unique. It feels like they shouldn't even exist because they're not earthly like other animals. They're pink, which is already weird, and the sounds they make are so bizarre and feel like it's from a comedy skit instead of a farm. Being on a farm is one of the best feelings. The big blue skies shining down on us, and the wide open spaces all contribute to a sense of magic. There's a lot of work to be done on a farm, and that can be immensely rewarding.
